Indian equities continued to trade on a flat note amid volatility on Tuesday. Metal and consumer durables stocks witnessed a gain while capital goods stocks dropped.
At 11.29 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 35.24 points or 0.13% at 27,680.39 with 16 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 15.35 points or 0.18% at 8,333.75 with 30 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.39%), Coal India (2.14%), Bharti Airtel (1.33%), Hindustan Unilever (1.32%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.24%), and Tata Steel (1.20%).
On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services (1.27%), NTPC (1.23%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.09%), Hero Motocorp (1.01%), I C I C I Bank (0.93%), and Wipro (0.72%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The Consumer Durables index was at 10,731.27, up by 185.81 points or by 1.76%. The Metal index was at 9,274.47, up by 97.68 points or by 1.06%. On the other hand, the Capital Goods index was at 17,448.56, down by 28.37 points or by 0.16%.
