Indian equities extended losses in the post noon trade tracking mixed global cues on Monday. Selling pressure was seen across board in index heavyweights. All sectoral indices are trading in the negative except pharma stocks.
Broader markets were also in red. BSE Midcap and Smallcap index down over 1% each.
At 14.58., the Sensex was trading down 414.45 points or 0.85% at 48,464.09 with 17 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 103.35 points or 0.72% at 14,268.55 with 32 components falling.
Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed fall of 49.11 points in the Sensex. It was followed by ITC (47.06 points), Tata Motors (40.99 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (38.09 points) and State Bank Of India (18.82 points).
However, HDFC Bank contributed rise of 43.41 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (27.47 points), Bajaj Auto (20.46 points), Hero Motocorp (15.6 points) and Bharti Airtel (12.28 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (2.80%), Bajaj Auto (2.63%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.42%), Bajaj Finserv (1.82%), HDFC Bank (1.13%), and Bharti Airtel (1.03%).
On the other hand, Reliance Industries (5.04%), Indusind Bank (4.22%), Asian Paints (3.34%), HCL Technologies (3.02%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.86%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 886 advances against 2,020 declines.
