Indian equities bounced back on Wednesday snapping earlier losses. At 9.37 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 146.18 points or 0.52% at 28,122.70 with 25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 42.05 points or 0.49% at 8,632.70 with 44 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.17%), ICICI Bank (1.97%), Tata Motors (1.56%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.56%), GAIL (India) (1.31%), and NTPC (1.11%).
On the other hand, Dr Reddy's Laboratories (9.31%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.58%), Bajaj Auto (0.38%), and Tata Power Company (0.28%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,125 advances against 375 declines.
Claris Lifesciences topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,357.01 million. It was followed by Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (Rs. 389.85 million), Vakrangee (Rs. 127.11 million) and Axis Bank (Rs. 70.34 million).
The volume chart was led by Claris Lifesciences with trades of over 5.83 million shares. It was followed by Media Matrix Worldwide (5.51 million), Syncom Formulations (India) (2.30 million) and Unitech (1.61 million).
