Indian markets bounced back on Friday snapping earlier losses to close the volatile session flat. The broader markets however ended weak with BSE Midcap, Small Cap indices falling over 0.7% and 0.9% respectively. The rupee also rebounded today from intra-day losses to settle at 73.86 against US dollar.
At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 21.12 points or 0.04% at 52,344.45, with 7 components posting rise while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 8.05 points or 0.05%, at 15,683.35 with 39 components registering drop.
Infosys contributed rise of 59.05 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Hindustan Unilever (50.09 points), Reliance Industries (27.18 points), Tata Consultancy Services (17.32 points) and Bajaj Auto (11.51 points).
However, ITC contributed fall of 87.9 points in the Sensex. It was followed by ICICI Bank (63.31 points), State Bank Of India (61.25 points), Tata Motors (58.11 points) and Housing Development Finance Corporation (54.75 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Hindustan Unilever (2.64%), Bajaj Auto (2.61%), Bharti Airtel (1.93%), Bajaj Finserv (1.51%), IndusInd Bank (1.08%) and HDFC Bank (0.95%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.72%), NTPC (3.16%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (2.80%), M&M (2.56%), Nestle (2.08%) and State Bank of India (1.76%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,180 advances against 2,031 declines.
