Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the equity segment worth Rs 3.50 billion on both BSE, NSE and MCX-SX on August 3, as per provisional data available at the BSE. They bought equities worth Rs 44.95 billion and sold equities worth Rs 41.45 billion.
Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors (DIIs), which include banks, DFIs, insurance and MFs, were net sellers in the equity segment worth Rs 333.6 million. They bought equities worth Rs 18.10 billion and sold equities worth Rs 18.43 billion.
Local stock markets ended higher on Monday led by buying interest seen in consumer durables, banking and auto stocks. RBI monetary policy to be eyed tomorrow.
At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 72.50 points or 0.26% at 28,187.06 with 17 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 10.20 points or 0.12% at 8,543.05 with 25 components registering rise.
