Sensex rises over 200 points; Nifty hits all-time high of 9,566

Indian equities continued to gain for the second day on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high. At 12.19 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 212.89 points or 0.69% at 30,962.92 with 19 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 56.65 points or 0.60% at 9,566.40 with 33 components gaining.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (4.87%), Reliance Industries (2.59%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.29%), Asian Paints (2.14%), Infosys (1.54%), and Tata Motors (1.42%).

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (3.27%), Cipla (2.95%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.23%), State Bank Of India (0.98%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.63%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.36%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 1,575 advances against 661 declines.

Marico topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 991.43 million. It was followed by Hero Motocorp (Rs. 833.37 million), Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 815.01 million) and Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs. 614.39 million).

The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 13.86 million shares. It was followed by Sintex Industries (12.64 million), Marico (3.16 million) and Spicejet (2.99 million).
