Indian markets continued to gain for the second day on Friday. At 9.31 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 169.66 points or 0.49% at 34,467.13 with 23 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 51.20 points or 0.49% at 10,596.70 with 37 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (2.12%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.35%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.33%), ICICI Bank (1.22%), Wipro (0.91%), and Tata Steel (0.89%).
On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (0.59%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.53%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.51%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.37%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.27%), and Bajaj Auto (0.20%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,061 advances against 432 declines.
Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 84.75 million. It was followed by Spicejet (Rs. 55.63 million), Prakash Industries (Rs. 51.30 million) and Tata Steel (Rs. 45.90 million).
The volume chart was led by Spicejet with trades of over 0.39 million shares. It was followed by Unitech (0.38 million), Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company (0.29 million) and Prakash Industries (0.22 million).
