Indian markets continued to rally for the second day on Friday. At 9.25 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 137.88 points or 0.40% at 34,800.99 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 40.80 points or 0.39% at 10,554.65 with 34 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (1.48%), NTPC (1.39%), Tata Steel (1.39%), Infosys (1.33%), ICICI Bank (0.93%), and Asian Paints (0.91%).
On the other hand, ITC (1.73%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.61%), State Bank Of India (0.84%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.66%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.63%), and Cipla (0.44%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 681 advances against 360 declines.
Birla Sun Life Fixed Term Plan - Series IP - Regular Plan - Growth topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 111.30 million. It was followed by R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 85.11 million), Vedanta (Rs. 56.06 million) and United Spirits (Rs. 50.54 million).
The volume chart was led by Birla Sun Life Fixed Term Plan - Series IP - Regular Plan - Growth with trades of over 10.00 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (0.79 million), Electrosteel Steels (0.32 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (0.28 million).
