Indian markets continued to rally for the sixth day on Monday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 2-month high. At 9.26 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 148.20 points or 0.41% at 36,342.50 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 48.50 points or 0.45% at 10,925.25 with 36 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (2.64%), NTPC (2.54%), Coal India (1.86%), Hindustan Unilever (1.69%), and Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.25%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (8.75%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.66%), Tata Motors (0.55%), Hero Motocorp (0.31%), ICICI Bank (0.18%), and Cipla (0.17%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 713 advances against 371 declines.
H D F C Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 574.99 million. It was followed by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Rs. 275.41 million), Yes Bank (Rs. 138.67 million) and Yuken India (Rs. 132.02 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 2.67 million shares. It was followed by Yes Bank (0.82 million), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.61 million) and Vakrangee (0.60 million).
