Indian equities continued to gain for the second day on Tuesday. At 13.15 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 14.16 points or 0.05% at 31,325.73 with 13 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 2.30 points or 0.02% at 9,659.85.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (3.77%), Tata Power Company (3.59%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.26%), Infosys (1.14%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.01%), and State Bank Of India (0.68%).
On the other hand, Axis Bank (1.25%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.05%), GAIL (India) (0.87%), Bajaj Auto (0.67%), and Hero Motocorp (0.62%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,086 advances against 1,263 declines.
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 601.78 million. It was followed by Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs. 596.18 million), Yes Bank (Rs. 370.63 million) and Spicejet (Rs. 363.75 million).
The volume chart was led by Kotak FMP Series 145 - Direct Plan - Growth with trades of over 10.00 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Fixed Horizon Fund - XXV Series 21 - Direct Plan - Growth (5.50 million), Info-Drive Software (3.93 million) and Amtek Auto (3.39 million).
