Indian equities continued to decline for the second day on Wednesday. At 1.44 p.m, the Sensex was trading down 80.54 points or 0.26% at 31,216.99 with 18 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 35.80 points or 0.37% at 9,617.70 with 32 components falling.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (2.17%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.96%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.78%), Cipla (1.59%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.47%), and GAIL (India) (1.45%).
On the other hand, Larsen & Toubro (0.63%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.50%), ITC (0.49%), Hindustan Unilever (0.42%), Asian Paints (0.36%), and Reliance Industries (0.30%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,125 advances against 1,214 declines.
Larsen & Toubro topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 42,102.26 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 1,228.00 million), Mahindra & Mahindra (Rs. 1,012.73 million) and Indiabulls Real Estate (Rs. 577.48 million).
The volume chart was led by Larsen & Toubro with trades of over 23.90 million shares. It was followed by G M R Infrastructure (7.47 million), Jaiprakash Associates (6.87 million) and IRB InvIT Fund (5.08 million).
