Indian markets ended flat on Tuesday erasing earlier gains. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a decline of 14.04 points or 0.04% at 31,297.53, 16 components registering drop. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 4.05 points or 0.04%, at 9,653.50 with 31 components registering drop.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Power Grid Corporation of India (2.00%), Lupin (1.63%), Axis Bank (1.56%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.22%), Hero Motocorp (1.02%), and NTPC (1.00%).
On the other hand Tata Motors (3.28%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.60%), Infosys (1.54%), Cipla (1.18%), and Tata Steel (0.56%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,188 advances against 1,381 declines.
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 819.65 million. It was followed by Spicejet (Rs. 520.65 million), BEML (Rs. 361.28 million) and Tata Elxsi (Rs. 332.78 million).
The volume chart was led by G M R Infrastructure with trades of over 5.63 million shares. It was followed by Amtek Auto (4.78 million), Spicejet (4.11 million) and Lanco Infratech (3.31 million).
