Indian markets continued to rise for the second day on Wednesday. At 9.47 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 201.77 points or 0.61% at 33,198.53 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 80.50 points or 0.80% at 10,204.85.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (2.29%), Cipla (1.81%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.55%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.40%), Axis Bank (1.40%), and State Bank Of India (1.30%).
On the other hand, Hero Motocorp (0.46%), Hindustan Unilever (0.37%), Tata Motors (0.32%), Wipro (0.26%), Tata Power Company (0.25%), and Tata Steel (0.20%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,240 advances against 332 declines.
V-Mart Retail topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 203.41 million. It was followed by Gala Global Products (Rs. 193.24 million), IDBI Bank (Rs. 89.60 million) and Vakrangee (Rs. 87.01 million).
The volume chart was led by Electrosteel Steels with trades of over 4.42 million shares. It was followed by IDBI Bank (1.17 million), Jaiprakash Associates (1.13 million) and Karuturi Global (0.68 million).
