Indian markets continued to gain for the second day on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high. At 11.02 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 153.25 points or 0.50% at 30,903.28 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 35.80 points or 0.38% at 9,545.55 with 36 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (4.99%), Bharti Airtel (2.58%), Asian Paints (2.22%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.13%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.81%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.32%).
On the other hand, Cipla (2.51%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.79%), State Bank Of India (1.21%), Tata Power Company (0.87%), Hindustan Unilever (0.83%), and Tata Consultancy Services (0.81%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,532 advances against 536 declines.
Marico topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 995.58 million. It was followed by Hero Motocorp (Rs. 825.38 million), Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 800.47 million) and Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs. 611.25 million).
The volume chart was led by Sintex Industries with trades of over 10.93 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (9.56 million), Marico (3.15 million) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.12 million).
