Indian markets bounced back on Friday snapping earlier losses. At 9.47 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 110.86 points or 0.35% at 32,015.26 with 14 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 23.00 points or 0.23% at 9,896.30 with 26 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Wipro (7.43%), Reliance Industries (2.74%), Coal India (1.27%), GAIL (India) (1.17%), Infosys (1.10%), and Asian Paints (0.94%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (1.13%), Cipla (0.93%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.55%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.53%), Hero Motocorp (0.50%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.42%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,026 advances against 535 declines.
Housing Development Finance Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,805.69 million. It was followed by Godrej Consumer Products (Rs. 1,543.50 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 419.94 million) and Sterlite Technologies (Rs. 262.23 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 9.60 million shares. It was followed by GVK Power & Infrastructure (1.73 million), I F C I (1.61 million) and Godrej Consumer Products (1.60 million).
