Indian equities continued to rise for the second day on Monday. At 9.33 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 119.48 points or 0.33% at 36,615.85 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 39.25 points or 0.36% at 11,049.45 with 35 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Asian Paints (3.74%), ITC (2.10%), Bharti Airtel (1.82%), NTPC (1.80%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.55%), and Coal India (1.10%).
On the other hand, Wipro (3.69%), Bajaj Auto (2.11%), Hero Motocorp (1.56%), HDFC Bank (1.40%), Cipla (1.29%), and Reliance Industries (0.80%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 814 advances against 419 declines.
Bajaj Finance topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 144.19 million. It was followed by PC Jeweller (Rs. 142.20 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 126.78 million) and Crompton Greaves Consumer Electrical (Rs. 120.86 million).
The volume chart was led by PC Jeweller with trades of over 1.62 million shares. It was followed by South Indian Bank , The (1.54 million), Adani Power (1.08 million) and Alok Industries (0.94 million).
