Indian equities bounced back on Friday ahead of Economic Survey. At 10.24 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 151.79 points or 0.53% at 28,898.44 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 47.75 points or 0.55% at 8,731.60 with 39 components gaining.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company (3.80%), Larsen & Toubro (2.97%), Sesa Sterlite (2.88%), Coal India (2.42%), Hindalco Industries (2.04%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.90%).

On the other hand, I T C (2.03%), G A I L (India) (1.29%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.85%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.43%), NTPC (0.29%), and Wipro (0.23%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.93% and 0.88% respectively.

The Realty index was at 1,807.62, up by 44.06 points or by 2.50%. The Capital Goods index was at 17,593.59, up by 421.59 points or by 2.46%. The Metal index was at 10,505.97, up by 223.88 points or by 2.18%.

On the other hand, the FMCG index was at 8,509.93, down by 81.32 points or by 0.95%.

Market breadth was negative with 1,330 advances against 665 declines.
