Indian equities continued to rise for the second day on Thursday. The Nifty was trading near life time high. At 10.59 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 20.68 points or 0.06% at 31,976.03 with 13 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 6.55 points or 0.07% at 9,906.15 with 21 components gaining.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (3.10%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.12%), Coal India (1.02%), Cipla (0.82%), Reliance Industries (0.55%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.54%).

On the other hand, Tata Steel (1.68%), Asian Paints (1.02%), Hero Motocorp (0.86%), Infosys (0.76%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.53%), and Maruti Suzuki India (0.47%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,124 advances against 945 declines.

Kotak Mahindra Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 383.39 million. It was followed by Sterlite Technologies (Rs. 368.99 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 331.88 million) and Gujarat Pipavav Port (Rs. 282.84 million).

The volume chart was led by Unitech with trades of over 3.75 million shares. It was followed by Sintex Industries (3.39 million), Jaiprakash Associates (2.65 million) and Idea Cellular (1.95 million).
