Indian markets continued to decline for the second day on Monday. The Nifty was trading near 1-month high. At 9.29 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 49.54 points or 0.14% at 34,366.04 with 17 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 5.15 points or 0.05% at 10,558.90 with 28 components falling.
Major losers in the 30-share index were ICICI Bank (1.81%), Infosys (1.40%), Hero Motocorp (1.22%), Coal India (1.13%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.04%), and HDFC Bank (0.92%).
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra (0.77%), Larsen & Toubro (0.77%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.52%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.42%), Bharti Airtel (0.37%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.32%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 715 advances against 580 declines.
H D F C Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 210.65 million. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 81.92 million), Yuken India (Rs. 60.46 million) and Avanti Feeds (Rs. 59.80 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 0.95 million shares. It was followed by Nagarjuna Oil Refinery (0.62 million), Prakash Constrowell (0.38 million) and Shree Digvijay Cement Company (0.29 million).
