Indian equities continued to decline for the fourth day on Tuesday. At 9.28 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 250.51 points or 0.73% at 33,883.87 with 25 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 77.40 points or 0.76% at 10,167.85 with 44 components falling.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Asian Paints (5.25%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.69%), Reliance Industries (1.55%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.38%), Hindustan Unilever (1.34%), and ICICI Bank (1.13%).
On the other hand, Tata Motors (1.00%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.83%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.76%), Coal India (0.42%), and Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.40%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 344 advances against 794 declines.
Indiabulls Housing Finance topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 119.04 million. It was followed by Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (Rs. 88.17 million), Asian Paints (Rs. 58.50 million) and Reliance Industries (Rs. 51.54 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 0.78 million shares. It was followed by Infibeam Avenues (0.65 million), Urja Global (0.58 million) and Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (0.48 million).
