Indian equities ended higher on Friday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 732.43 or 2.15% at 34,733.58 with 27 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 237.85 or 2.32% at 10,472.50 with 45 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Maruti Suzuki India (5.89%), Mahindra & Mahindra (5.29%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (4.87%), Coal India (4.56%), and Bajaj Auto (4.35%).
On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services (3.10% were the only losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,835 advances against 586 declines.
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,764.58 million. It was followed by Yes Bank (Rs. 957.57 million), Maruti Suzuki India (Rs. 662.57 million) and Reliance Industries (Rs. 502.49 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 12.20 million shares. It was followed by Birla Power Solutions (12.09 million), South Indian Bank , The (9.80 million) and Toyam Industries (6.91 million).
