Sensex ends 322 points higher; Nifty settles at 10,491

Indian equities ended higher on Friday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 322.65 or 0.95% at 34,142.15 with 19 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 108.35 or 1.04% at 10,491.05 with 30 components registering rise.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (6.26%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (5.17%), Yes Bank (2.28%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (2.26%) and Bharti Airtel (2.26%).

On the other hand, Asian Paints (1.29%), Coal India (0.51%), Infosys (0.42%) and M&M (0.22%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,474 advances against 1,027 declines.

I C I C I Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,119.18 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 496.88 million), Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs. 362.52 million) and Ashok Leyland (Rs. 310.80 million).

The volume chart was led by Urja Global with trades of over 3.72 million shares. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (3.48 million), Steel Authority Of India (2.91 million) and Orient Green Power Company (2.64 million).
