Indian markets continued to fall for the fifth day on Tuesday. At 11.42 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 23.77 points or 0.09% at 27,862.44 with 12 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 11.20 points or 0.13% at 8,436.90 with 19 components falling.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (2.31%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.40%), I C I C I Bank (1.27%), Bharti Airtel (1.21%), Sesa Sterlite (0.96%), and Tata Steel (0.91%).
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (9.31%), Maruti Suzuki India (2.59%), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (2.34%), Hindalco Industries (1.77%), Hindustan Unilever (1.76%), and Cipla (0.79%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The Realty index was at 1,672.84, up by 16.06 points or by 0.97%. The Bankex index was at 21,003.99, up by 198.62 points or by 0.95%. The Capital Goods index was at 17,120.54, up by 99.39 points or by 0.58%.
