Voltas, an engineering, air conditioning and refrigeration company, said a steady growth in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended March 2015. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 17.56% to Rs 1,180.40 million from Rs 1,004.10 million in the same quarter last year.

Total income for the quarter rose marginally 1.79% to Rs 15,202.60 million, compared with Rs 14,936 million for the prior year period.

Earnings per share for the quarter stood at Rs 3.57, registering 17.82% growth over previous year period.

Shares of the company gained Rs 21.15, or 7.34%, to trade at Rs 309.45. The total volume of shares traded was 408,356 at the BSE (10.17 a.m., Friday).
