Vijaya Bank, a medium sized public sector lender, today announced that it has reduced its base rate by 0.15% or 15 basis points to 9.85%.
The bank said in a statement, "The Asset and Liability Committee of the bank has approved the reduction of base rate by 15bps from 10% per annum to 9.85% per annum with effect from Sept. 04, 2015.''
Earlier, HDFC Bank had reduced its base rate on Sept 1, 2015 by 35 basis points to 9.35% from the existing 9.70%.
The Reserve Bank of India has cut its repo rate by a total of 75 basis points in the current year.
Shares of the bank declined Rs 0.5, or 1.41%, to trade at Rs 35. The total volume of shares traded was 52,243 at the BSE (3.26 p.m., Friday).
