TVS Motor January sales grow 1.23%

TVS Motor Company continued to record strong retail sales during the month of January 2015. The company witnessed planned production cuts due to annual maintenance and Pongal holidays in its major plants during the month of January.

Total sales increased from 186,313 units recorded in the month of January 2014 to 188,598 units in the month of January 2015, registered an increase of 1.23%.

The company's total exports in January 2015 stood at 25,029 units against 28,875 units in the month of January 2014. Two wheeler exports stood at 19,232 units in January 2015 against 23,438 units in January 2014.

Total two wheeler sales increased from 179,576 units recorded in January 2014 to 181,516 units in January 2015. Domestic two wheeler sales grew by 4% increasing from 156,138 units in January 2014 to 162,284 units in January 2015.

Scooters sales of the company grew by 24% increasing from 45,198 units in January 2014 to 56,032 units in January 2015. Motorcycles sales grew by 7% increasing from 65,449 units in the month of January 2014 to 69,949 units in January 2015.

Three wheeler sales of the company registered an increase of 5%, growing from 6,737 units in January 2014 to 7,082 units in January 2015.

Shares of the company gained Rs 8.30, or 2.90%, to trade at Rs 294.55 at the BSE (10.56 a.m., Tuesday).
