Tata Power Strategic Engineering Division (SED) and Secusmart, a subsidiary of BlackBerry, have partnered to evaluate the design, development and marketing of a highly secured mobile communications system.
This highly secured mobile system is tailored to the needs of government customers in India.
The company said, 'Tata Power SED and Secusmart have signed a term sheet (MOU) providing the framework for collaboration to develop a highly secured mobile communications system.'
The proposed collaboration is aimed at leveraging Tata Power SED's expertise in security, software and hardware design and manufacturing and Secusmart's expertise in Software and security to provide a highly capable and secure communication solution meeting stringent government requires.
The term sheet was signed during the German Chancellor Angela Merkel's official trip to India, underlying the importance of the partnership to both the parties and highlighting how crucial secured mobile communications are to the government of India.
Shares of the company gained Rs 1.8, or 2.68%, to settle at Rs 68.90. The total volume of shares traded was 798,576 at the BSE (Tuesday).
