Tata Motors announced Wednesday it has received an order for 1,542 Sumo Gold utility vehicles from various police and law enforcement agencies across the country.
Commenting on the orders, Vernon Noronha, vice president, Defence & Government Business, Tata Motors said, ''The Tata Sumo was conceived and designed keeping in mind the need for a rugged, comfortable and reliable vehicle that was powerful and versatile, with the ability to do almost everything with ease, including negotiate narrow city roads.

Shares of the company gained Rs 4.7, or 0.89%, to trade at Rs 533.70. The total volume of shares traded was 142,053 at the BSE (10.55 a.m., Wednesday).
