Suzlon Group, one of the leading wind turbine manufacturer, said the company has won its maiden order from Hero Future Energies, an Independent Power Producer (IPP) company, for 31.50 MW of wind power project. The company will install its 597 suite of WTGs (wind turbine generators) with 120m hub height and rated capacity of 2.1 MW each at Zaheerabad site in Medak district, Telangana on supply and installation basis. The project will be scheduled for commissioning by June 2016.

The S97 - 120m is the Worlds' tallest Hybrid tower and combines both lattice and tubular structure which is designed indigenously to harness the available wind energy across low wind sites, the company said. "It increases energy output by - 12% to 15 % over other turbines of same capacity. The combination of lattice and tubular gives enhanced tower strength at lower cost. The three-dimensional lattice structure can support heavier weights due to the broad base and reduces the steel requirement apart from being logistic friendly."

Ishwar Mangal, chief sales officer, Suzlon Group said, "We are delighted to have signed yet another order for our hybrid towers, with Hero Future Energies. Our Hybrid tower technology is a great value proposition for the customers and we are encouraged by the customer response.

The 597 120m hybrid tower is a game changer for the wind industry and is a result of our continued focus to invest in next generation technologies that offer higher ROI to our customers across segments. We will continue to develop new relationships and further strengthen existing ones, and we are looking forward to more successes this year."

Shares of the company gained Rs 0.05, or 0.23%, to trade at Rs 22.20. The total volume of shares traded was 264,733 at the BSE (9.21 a.m., Monday).
