SunEdison, Inc., the largest global renewable energy development company will invest Rs 120-140 billion for developing solar energy in Tamil Nadu over a period of 5 years. The company signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) at global investors meet at the Chennai trade center.
The company said, "SunEdison has signed a MoU with the Tamil Nadu state government to develop 2 gigawatts (GW) of wind and solar power in the state in the next 5 years."
"The 2 GW are part of company's larger plan to develop 15.2 GW of renewable energy in the country by 2022," it added.
Pashupathy Gopalan, of Asia-Pacific and Sub-SSunEdison's president aharan Africa said, "SunEdison is dedicated to furthering India's renewable energy program of clean and cost effective wind and solar power projects in the country by 2022."
