Sugar stocks gained on Tuesday after media reports said that the government is planning to offer a subsidy of Rs 12 billion to farmers.
Dhampur Sugar Mills gained the most with rise of 19.86% followed by Gayatri Sugars (19.79%), Shree Renuka (14.04%), Mawana Sugars (10%), Empee Sugars & Chemicals (9.96%), Thiru Arooran Sugars (9.92%), Simbhaoli Sugars (9.90%), EID Parry India (8.70%), Uttam Sugar Mills (8.44%), Bannari Amman Sugars (7.36%), Piccadily Agro Industries (7.38%) and Dwarikesh Sugar Industries (4.96%).
Indian equities continued to rally for the second day on Tuesday. At 1.15 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 33.36 points or 0.13% at 25,793.46 with 19 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 3.40 points or 0.04% at 7,803.20 with 25 components falling.
