Sesa Sterlite announced that it has changed the name of the company from its present name, Sesa Sterlite to Vedanta.
The shareholders of the company approved the name change of the company through Postal Ballot, results of which was announced on March 30, 2015. The name change to Vedanta is now effective post issue of 'Fresh Certificate of Incorporation' issued by the registrar of companies, Goa, ministry of corporate affairs (MCA), Govt. of India.
''The name change from Sesa Sterlite to Vedanta promises a united and aligned identity, Vedanta, which positions us to create greater value for our domestic and global stakeholders, as a diversified natural resources group of companies. Vedanta embodies commitment to deliver world class excellence with low cost operations and superior shareholder returns,'' said Tom Albanese, Group CEO, Vedanta, adding that this is a significant milestone which reflects Vedanta's commitment to strengthen the linkage between our business, communities and stakeholders.
The change in the name of the company will have no impact on the operations of subsidiary companies, viz., Cairn India, Hindustan Zinc (HZL) and Bharat Aluminium (BALCO) and the divisions of Vedanta.
Shares of the company declined Rs 2, or 0.95%, to trade at Rs 209.30. The total volume of shares traded was 116,567 at the BSE (11.06 a.m., Wednesday).
