Sensex rises 89 points, Nifty above 10,350

Indian equities continued to rally for the seventh day on Friday. At 9.45 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 89.45 points or 0.27% at 33,677.53 with 19 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 28.40 points or 0.27% at 10,377.15 with 32 components gaining.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Bajaj Auto (1.39%), Infosys (1.39%), Cipla (0.96%), Reliance Industries (0.92%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.65%), and Tata Motors (0.56%).

On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (0.95%), Tata Steel (0.82%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.79%), Asian Paints (0.44%), Wipro (0.32%), and Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.19%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 1,078 advances against 552 declines.

Indiabulls Housing Finance topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 718.85 million. It was followed by Praj Industries (Rs. 299.63 million), Aptech (Rs. 147.88 million) and India Glycols (Rs. 98.17 million).

The volume chart was led by Praj Industries with trades of over 2.47 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (1.53 million), Jaiprakash Associates (1.35 million) and Nila Infrastructures (1.26 million).
