Indian equities continued to decline for the second day on Wednesday. At 11.25 p.m, the Sensex was trading down 164.70 points or 0.46% at 35,379.24 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 64.90 points or 0.60% at 10,736.95 with 35 components falling.
Major losers in the 30-share index were ICICI Bank (2.92%), Hero Motocorp (2.29%), State Bank Of India (1.69%), Coal India (1.59%), and Reliance Industries (1.57%).
On the other hand, Wipro (1.53%), Hindustan Unilever (0.70%), Tata Steel (0.46%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.42%), NTPC (0.38%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.35%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 650 advances against 1,331 declines.
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 836.47 million. It was followed by Punjab National Bank (Rs. 437.14 million), H E G (Rs. 371.08 million) and PC Jeweller (Rs. 311.28 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 10.27 million shares. It was followed by Punjab National Bank (5.77 million), Suzlon Energy (3.37 million) and Uttam Galva Steels (2.53 million).
