Sensex falls 73 points; Nifty trades at 10,479

Indian equities continued to drop for the third day on Tuesday. At 9.32 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 72.76 points or 0.21% at 34,740.23 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 2.85 points or 0.03% at 10,479.35 with 36 components falling.

Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (1.94%), Bharti Airtel (1.61%), Bajaj Auto (1.17%), State Bank Of India (0.97%), Hindustan Unilever (0.76%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.63%).

On the other hand, Coal India (1.12%), Asian Paints (0.82%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.80%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.70%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.61%), and NTPC (0.43%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 574 advances against 626 declines.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 88.16 million. It was followed by Jet Airways (India) (Rs. 71.57 million), Tata Motors (Rs. 69.20 million) and Maruti Suzuki India (Rs. 63.89 million).

The volume chart was led by Adani Power with trades of over 0.77 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (0.66 million), PC Jeweller (0.61 million) and Bank Of India (0.58 million).
