Indian equities continued to drop for the third day on Friday. At 9.26 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 139.49 points or 0.41% at 33,546.05 with 17 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 31.95 points or 0.31% at 10,321.30.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.38%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.23%), Asian Paints (1.15%), NTPC (1.03%), and Reliance Industries (0.78%).
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra (1.28%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.68%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.60%), Wipro (0.53%), Cipla (0.44%), and Axis Bank (0.20%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 763 advances against 421 declines.
Housing Development Finance Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 186.25 million. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (Rs. 177.50 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 118.65 million) and Gala Global Products (Rs. 88.89 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 8.37 million shares. It was followed by G T L Infrastructure (2.41 million), Jaypee Infratech (2.27 million) and Unitech (1.28 million).
