Indian markets ended higher on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 95.61 or 0.28% at 34,427.29 with 17 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 39.10 or 0.37% at 10,565.30 with 30 components posting rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (3.17%), Yes Bank (2.83%), Bharti Airtel (2.64%), Larsen & Toubro (1.74%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.47%) and Tata Consultancy Services (0.99%).
On the other hand, Axis Bank (0.91%), Coal India (0.77%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.69%), Hero Motocorp (0.58%), and Bajaj Auto (0.56%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,245 advances against 1,170 declines.
Vakrangee topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 716.21 million. It was followed by Graphite India (Rs. 487.69 million), Larsen & Toubro (Rs. 287.06 million) and V I P Industries (Rs. 179.13 million).
The volume chart was led by Uttam Value Steels with trades of over 5.65 million shares. It was followed by Vakrangee (5.43 million), Unitech (2.59 million) and Jamna Auto Industries (1.16 million).
