Sensex ends 348 points higher; Nifty settles at 10,096-level

Indian equities ended higher on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 348.23 or 1.09% at 32,182.22 with 24 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 111.60 or 1.12% at 10,096.40 with 37 components registering rise.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (3.82%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.59%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.92%), Axis Bank (1.77%), Hindustan Unilever (1.71%), and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.52%).

On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (1.17%), Infosys (0.37%), Coal India (0.18%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.17%), and Asian Paints (0.06%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 1,586 advances against 886 declines.

Oberoi Realty topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 658.84 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 551.32 million), Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 476.16 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 316.60 million).

The volume chart was led by Dwekam Industries with trades of over 5.90 million shares. It was followed by NCC (3.38 million), Suzlon Energy (3.01 million) and Sanwaria Consumer (2.54 million).
