Indian markets ended higher on Friday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 301.09 or 0.91% at 33,250.30 with 25 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 98.95 or 0.97% at 10,265.65 with 44 components posting rise.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were ITC (3.44%), Tata Motors (2.21%), Sun Pharma (2.21%), HUL (1.97%) and Cipla (1.87%).

On the other hand, Hero Motocorp (1.19%), State Bank Of India (1.09%), Reliance Industries (1.04%) and Tata Consultancy Services (0.64%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 1,734 advances against 790 declines.

Motherson Sumi Systems topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 3,035.74 million. It was followed by R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 736.68 million), Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company (Rs. 531.06 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 386.92 million).

The volume chart was led by Unitech with trades of over 19.08 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (8.73 million), Motherson Sumi Systems (8.16 million) and Suzlon Energy (4.53 million).
