Indian markets ended higher on Monday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 286.43 or 0.81% at 35,798.01. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 71.50 or 0.66% at 10,966.20.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (5.36%), Reliance Industries (4.50%), Axis Bank (3.52%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.28%), Bajaj Auto (2.00%), and Larsen & Toubro (1.97%).
On the other hand, Wipro (2.33%), Bharti Airtel (1.56%), Asian Paints (1.40%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.38%), State Bank Of India (0.91%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.70%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,441 advances against 1,223 declines.
Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 496.32 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 418.86 million), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (Rs. 374.47 million) and Infosys (Rs. 339.47 million).
The volume chart was led by Bharat Heavy Electricals with trades of over 2.73 million shares. It was followed by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.87 million), Hindustan Construction Company (1.70 million) and State Bank Of India (1.37 million).
