Sensex ends 130 points lower; Nifty settles below 10,150

Indian markets ended lower on Thursday erasing earlier gains. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 129.91 or 0.39% at 33,006.27 with 21 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty declined by 40.50 or 0.40% at 10,114.75.

Biggest losers in the 30-share index were State Bank Of India (2.46%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.14%), I C I C I Bank (2.09%), Maruti Suzuki India (2.01%), Cipla (1.62%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.60%).

On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.45%), Tata Motors (1.29%), Reliance Industries (1.22%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.64%), H D F C Bank (0.57%), and Asian Paints (0.56%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 684 advances against 1,794 declines.

PC Jeweller topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 640.92 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 591.47 million), H E G (Rs. 370.79 million) and Jubilant FoodWorks (Rs. 312.56 million).

The volume chart was led by Southern Ispat and Energy with trades of over 55.24 million shares. It was followed by Hindustan Construction Company (10.30 million), State Bank Of India (2.45 million) and National Aluminium Company (2.04 million).
