Indian markets bounced back on Friday snapping earlier losses. The broad based Nifty traded near life time high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 124.49 or 0.39% at 32,028.89 with 11 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 41.95 or 0.42% at 9,915.25 with 19 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Wipro (6.47%), Reliance Industries (3.76%), Coal India (2.56%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.87%), Infosys (1.11%), and Tata Motors (0.96%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (2.14%), Hero Motocorp (1.34%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.02%), Cipla (0.99%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.94%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.81%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,230 advances against 1,319 declines.
Housing Development Finance Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 6,236.84 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 3,131.83 million), Sterlite Technologies (Rs. 1,073.61 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (Rs. 883.08 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 33.20 million shares. It was followed by Sintex Industries (8.52 million), Unitech (6.63 million) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures (6.40 million).
