Sensex ends 0.87% higher; Nifty settles at 10,093-level

Indian markets ended higher on Tuesday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded above 1-month high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 276.50 or 0.87% at 32,158.66 with 24 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 87.00 or 0.87% at 10,093.05 with 41 components posting rise.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were G A I L (India) (3.97%), Tata Steel (3.30%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (3.17%), Tata Motors (3.14%), Hindustan Unilever (2.26%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.66%).

On the other hand, Wipro (1.00%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.76%), Hero Motocorp (0.72%), NTPC (0.38%), and Maruti Suzuki India (0.06%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,398 advances against 1,079 declines.

Spicejet topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 847.49 million. It was followed by Divis Laboratories (Rs. 794.57 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 393.83 million) and Delta Corp (Rs. 323.18 million).

The volume chart was led by Gammon Infrastructure Projects with trades of over 7.78 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (5.78 million), Suzlon Energy (5.57 million) and JSW Energy (3.53 million).
