Indian markets ended higher on Wednesday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 139.42 or 0.42% at 33,136.18 with 14 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 30.90 or 0.31% at 10,155.25.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (4.39%), NTPC (2.11%), Larsen & Toubro (1.45%), H D F C Bank (1.24%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.00%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.99%).
On the other hand, Tata Steel (1.85%), Tata Motors (1.58%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.44%), Hero Motocorp (1.25%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.90%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.82%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,153 advances against 1,320 declines.
HDFC FMP - 1132 D - February 2016 (1) - Series 35 - Direct Plan - Growth topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 981.00 million. It was followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (Rs. 631.15 million), I C I C I Bank (Rs. 623.46 million) and Force Motors (Rs. 515.50 million).
The volume chart was led by HDFC FMP - 1132 D - February 2016 (1) - Series 35 - Direct Plan - Growth with trades of over 100.00 million shares. It was followed by Kotak FMP Series 131 - Regular Plan - Growth (15.00 million), Reliance Communications (14.44 million) and Electrosteel Steels (11.81 million).
