Indian equities continued to gain in early trade for the sixth day on Thursday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 351.77 points or 0.58% at 61,088.82, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 111.10 points or 0.61%, at 18,272.85.
At 11.47 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 469.08 points or 0.77% at 61,206.13 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 150.75 points or 0.83% at 18,312.50 with 37 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were ITC (4.53%), Tech Mahindra (3.75%), NTPC (2.22%), Larsen & Toubro (2.21%), Power Grid Corporation Of India 2.01%), Infosys (1.77%) and HDFC Bank (1.32%).
On the other hand, IndusInd Bank (1.12%), Bajaj Finance (1.08%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.89%), TCS (0.76%), HCL Technologies (0.45%), Bharti Airtel (0.39%)and Axis Bank (0.26%) were the major losers in the Sensex.Market breadth was positive with 1,816 advances against 1,366 declines.
