Reliance Power today announced that the sixth and last 660 MW unit of the 3,960 MW Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) has been commissioned.
With this, all the six units of Sasan UMPP are successfully commissioned 12 months ahead of PPA Schedule. It may be mentioned here that five units of 660 MW each totaling 3300 MW were commissioned in just about 12 months.
The Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project is the largest integrated power plant cum coal mining project at a single location in the world involving investment of over Rs 270 billion. Investment of over Rs 270 billion is the largest for a project a single location in the State of Madhya Pradesh. Coal production has already commenced from the 20 million tonnes Moher and Moher-Amlohri coal mines associated with the power project.
With this unit, Reliance Power's generation capacity has increased to 5,945 MW which includes 5,760 MW of thermal capacity and 185 MW of renewable energy based capacity.
Shares of the company gained Rs 0.85, or 1.48%, to trade at Rs 58.40. The total volume of shares traded was 298,284 at the BSE (11.55 a.m., Wednesday).
