Power tariff to go down further in Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal

The Delhi Government awaiting for the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit report of private power distribution companies and after examining power rates in Delhi, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said tariff rates will go down further and benefits shall be passed on to the consumers.

The Chief Minister of Delhi has called a meeting on September 21 of all expert committees members of Assocham to discuss the work plan for the betterment of the state, said Kejriwal, while inaugurating 'Assocham Conference: Ease of Doing Business: Unfinished Agenda,' organised by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham).

While inaugurating the event Kejriwal said, Tuesday, there should be a fundamental change in manner of business carried out in this country. People also want government functioning should be change in country. 

"Delhi uses around 5000-6000 MW of electricity. Half of this, we get in 5.50 rupee per unit from outside Delhi. We found out that there are companies in Delhi who are ready to provide electricity in 2.50 rupees per unit. But unfortunately, the previous governments have signed a 30-year long deal with these companies. And now, we have to buy electricity from them," said Kejriwal.

"The recent government has emphasized mainly in education and health which is being reflected in the budgetary allocation which we have made this year. We  have allocated double amount for education and health. This shows our political commitments," said Kejriwal.

The Delhi government has also started 'mohalla clinics' and this clinic has been set up at a cost of around Rs 15-20 lakh, government would also likely to set up 1,000 such facilities within a year, said Kejriwal.

Delhi government is also expending the 'Mandis'. Warehouses being also established through the public private partnership (PPP) model. We are bringing out the warehouse bill to regularize existing warehouse in Delhi.
