Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to the Ministry of Coal announced that Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), a government-owned lignite mining and power generating company in India will be a 19,000 MW power company by 2025.
Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD, NLC said, "The company has moved from an only lignite mining and power generation company to become an energy company now by diversifying into coal based power generation and generation from renewable energy sources like solar and wind.
Acharya said that they have plans to go for coal mining and coal based power generation in a big way. By 2025, the company also aims to have own fuel security from its lignite and coal mines.
Shares of the company gained Rs 1.25, or 1.58%, to settle at Rs 80.15. The total volume of shares traded was 20,481 at the BSE (Friday).
