Nestle India, the leading nutrition, health and wellness company, on Friday said the company has decided to withdraw the Maggi Noodles off the shelves after few state governments banned the product temporarily on suspicious high level of lead content than permissible.
However, the company claimed that MAGGI Noodles are completely safe and have been trusted in India for over 30 years.
'The trust of our consumers and the safety of our products is our first priority. Unfortunately, recent developments and unfounded concerns about the product have led to an environment of confusion for the consumer, to such an extent that we have decided to withdraw the product off the shelves, despite the product being safe,' the company said.
Further the company said, 'We promise that the trusted MAGGI Noodles will be back in the market as soon as the current situation is clarified.'
The company has called press conference today at 12 noon to clarify its stand on recent controversy surrounding the product.
Shares of the company declined Rs 20.8, or 0.35%, to trade at Rs 5,990. Total volume of shares traded on the bourses today was higher by 1,079.44% to 227,714 compared with 22-day average volume of 19,307. (11.20 a.m., Friday)
