NDTV's e-commerce venture gets USD 5 mn funding

NDTV Ethnic Retail, a subsidiary of NDTV, which operates the group's maiden e-commerce venture, IndiaRoots.com, has concluded a fresh round of funding on Wednesday of USD 5 million at valuation of USD 85 million.

Prannoy Roy, co-chairperson NDTV said, ''We have always envisioned IndiaRoots.com as the leading ecommerce player in its segment. With the fresh investment in the business and the complete backing of the NDTV Group, IndianRoots will be able to push harder in achieving its plans for the year. We look forward to our partnership with the KJS Group in strengthening the IndianRoots venture.''

Shares of the company gained Rs 11.6, or 10.14%, to settle  at  Rs 126.00.  The total volume of shares traded  was  170,824 at  the BSE (Thursday).
